Welcome to Room 14!

I look forward to meeting each of you and introducing myself!  I will have two informational sessions during Back To School Night, August 11: one from 5:00 - 5:30 and another from 5:45 - 6:15pm, with time for questions after each one and time to travel to another classroom, if needed.  I hope to see you all there!

I will update this page soon, with my introduction for those who may have missed it at Back to School Night, so come back to visit soon.

Sincerely,
Wendy Sweet

What's New:

Budget cuts have severely affected the amount of supplies that we can order through school.  I have combed the stores for deals on many school items and bought them myself.  But I am still short a few very important items so far for this school year.  If you are able to buy any of these items to donate to the class, it would be greatly appreciated by all of our students, and myself!  I will continue to try to order more arts and crafts materials throughout the year and see what the budget will allow for.  I just don't want to see our kids lose out on anything!

If you can donate any of these items, we need:
10 pair student scissors
60 glue sticks
40 black Ultra-FINE tip dry-erase markers
20 watercolor paint sets
medium weight yarn (one skein each) in the following colors: brown, red, white, yellow, black
10 boxes of facial tissues (ie: Puffs, Kleenex)
1000 latex-free bandage strips (ie: Bandaids, please no cute pictures)
40 large erasers

Brand can make a big difference in the quality of the product.  I recommend these brands: Elmers, Fiskars, Crayola, Ticonderoga, Avery, Expo, and others.  I prefer not to have any Roseart brand products, as they seem inferior, even to Target-brand, Walgreens-brand, and some grocery-brands.

Later in the year, I hope to be able to get:
scented white board markers (cherry, lime, etc)
sidewalk chalk
stamp ink pads in a few colors
20 paintbrushes (round, pointed/straight, 7/8th inch)
40 "Composition Books" or other journals
60 white paper bags (lunch-size)
1000 chenille stem pack assorted colors (ie: pipe-cleaners)
washable paint in: blue, red, white, yellow, black, brown
small prizes (worth $1 or less each): fun erasers, pens, or pencils, bubbles, playdough, flashcards, books, fast-food toys, used toy trucks, used Barbies, etc.
stationery, notepads, letter-writing papers and/or cards
Please keep your eyes open for deals!

I need to learn how to change this chart.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Fry's - Kindergarten - 1 thru 50 Sight Words

Each column represents a list of 10 sight words. Students learn to read each list (in order) and then to spell the words on the lists. There are 1000 Fry's sight words total. Students should learn to read a at least 50 words by the end of kindergarten to be on task. Download all the Fry's Sight Words and practice with your child at home.
