Lunch Money

If your child buys lunch on a regular basis, we strongly recommend you pre-pay for lunches by filling out and returning the menu form found on the Monthly Hot Lunch Menu Flyer.  Unfortunately, lunch money is often lost.  Pre-payment avoids this problem.  If your child does buy lunch with cash, please make sure the money is put in an envelop with their name, teacher, and room 27 on it.  Also, if your child qualified for the lunch program, you will need to re-apply each year.  Please contact me for an application form.

Water Bottles/Snacks

Your child can bring water bottles and snacks.  Please label the bottle and snack bags with your child's name.  Students can eat their snacks during recess and lunch times outside of the classroom.  I do not supply snacks and drinks.

Outdoors/Clothing

Your child will need to bring proper protection such as sunscreen, sun hat, or a jacket depending on the weather.  Please make sure to label all clothing or items they bring to school.  Also, please do not forget to label your child's backpack.

Hygiene

We recommend that a child practice good hygiene.  We practice good hygiene in our class such as washing hands, brushing teeth, flossing, etc.  If you want your child to participate, please provide the necessary items in a zip lock plastic bag with their name on it.  We will keep them in-house, and we will contact you when he/she will need more supplies.  Also, it is important to keep your child's fingernails trimmed.  Please check them on a weekly basis.  We will inform you if your child needs trimmings a.s.a.p. due to safety issues.

Rewards

We have a ticket/point reward system.  Each day, each child will be able to earn tickets/points by: following procedures, staying on task, completing assignments, doing good deeds, etc.  Also, students can lose tickets by not listening, biting, hitting, etc.  There is room for self-correction, and the student can earn tickets back.  The tickets/points earned can buy items from the Love Box or Store.  Also, candy, treats, and stickers are handed out randomly on a daily basis for being on task and for participation, etc.  Please let me know if you have any concerns.  We can create a specific plan for your child if it is not stated in your child's IEP.

Yellow Communication Folder

I will provide a communication folder.  The folder will stay in the student's backpack.  Please check the folder everyday and make sure the folder stays in the backpack.  You can leave notes for me in the folder too.

Birthdays

We will be able to celebrate each child's birthday on their exact birth day.  Please contact me on how you would like to handle it.  We usually celebrate during lunch time (12-12:30).  We acknowledge the student with a birthday song and a hand-made birthday card from the classroom.  The parents supply the treats such as cupcakes or cookies and drinks.  This year, we have 13 students registered and four teachers.

Volunteer

We love parent volunteers!  Please let us know in advance or fill out the volunteer form to come in.  Also, please read the District's Volunteer Procedures Form.  We welcome you to visit anytime.  First, you will need a TB clearance form before you can volunteer.  This form needs to be current and on file in the front office.  Also, it is important that you enter at the Front Office and sign-in to receive a visitor's guest badge.

Field Trips

We will be attending SDC program field trips this year:  Sea World, Wild Animal Park, Santa Rosa Plateau, and Discovery Center-O.C.?  Due to our program being so large, we will have limited parent chaperones.  If you are interested in being a chaperone, you will need to be volunteer cleared first.  Then I will put you in a lottery.

Homework

It is state mandated that your child do homework.  We will be providing homework packets on Fridays.  The homework packets will be due the following Friday.  Math worksheets will be sent in the yellow folder daily in the backpack to be returned.  Please contact me if this is a concern, and we will create a plan that meets your child's needs.  Students will be following the general ed's first, second, or third grade's curriculum.  Please contact me for your child's academic guidance level.

Medicine/Health Clerk

If your child has a medical prescription medication that he/she is required to take during school hours, please contact our Health Clerk, Laura Jones.  She is located at the Front Office area.  It is important that we have good communication on your child's health. Also, you can phone at 244-2585.
