Welcome to our Kindergarten Page that tells you all about our wonderful children in Room 2!

April News

Wow how time is flying past!  I want to thank all of you wonderful parents and awesome children for the spectacular Birthday celebration!  We all enjoyed the delicious homemade food and fun activities and nice gifts!

Our children are working hard on their sight word lists and we have a few friends who have finished reading all 8 lists. Your child should be ready to pass word list number 8 or beyond at this time of the year.  We have 8 word lists available plus we have the Bear Mountain list and your child should be on the month of April at this time.   Remember the harder we work now the smarter your child will be and the easier school will be!  A new reading  activity is being sent home each week for YOUR CHILD TO READ TO YOU  three times and then write the answers the questions asked in complete sentences.  We sent home a sample that our beautiful children did in class to show you what we need each time.  We are now writing more than 3 simple sentences and a title each day such as:   Title: Rats   Sample sentences : I can see a rat.  The rat is brown.  My rat likes to eat peanuts.  Your child will be tested for the school district next week.  Please work at home writing sentences to help ease their frustration level when writing sentences at school.

I will be sending home Progress Reports on Friday April 30th.  Our goal for reading levels in a Level 6 by the time they leave Kindergarten.  They should be able to read all 8 Fry Sight Word Lists; all Bear Mountain Words and all Kindergarten Sight Words at this time as the school year ending is only four weeks away.  Our children are progressing nicely.  I am so proud of our awesome children!

Please look at the bottom of this page and you will see a place to click on that says great books to read compliments of Mr. Branstetter.  Arrow down on the left side and look under the heading what does your childs reading level mean.  Please click on this site and read the important explanation you need to know and have your child practice reading these books as well.  Bring me a note about which books you read and your child can receive a prize from the prize box.  These books contain words that we are currently working on in class and will build upon each other in the books that will follow these.

Please print a copy of this on Mondays and have your child bring it in for a prize out of the prize box.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.  We are one big happy family working together to help your child be the best they can be.

Love,

Mrs. Meece
