News From the Land of 3rd Grade

September 7 – September 10

I hope everyone had a lovely three day weekend.  Every once and awhile, we need them. I did miss all my students; I enjoy their unique personalities.  Don’t forget to look at the PTA’s fundraiser.  Supporting the PTA is one of the easiest and most worthwhile fundraising opportunities.  Please help support our PTA; your child benefits directly. 

Our holiday is over (sigh), and it is time we get back to the academics. These are the topics we will be learning this week.  This is a busy review week.  After three days of practice and review, we’ll take the Theme 1 test this week. The test consists of 19 pages focusing on:

Sequence of Events – 5 points

Making Inferences – 5 points

Cause and Effect – 5 points

Information and study skills – 5 points

Base words– 5 points

Suffixes – 5 points

Syllabication - 5 points

Inflected Endings – 5 points

Spelling – 10 points

Vocabulary – 10 points

Grammar – 10 points

Writing skills – 5 points

 

Homework will be comprehension pages.  Grandparents Day is coming soon.  I only have one RSVP.   Continue to practice multiplication flash cards.  These are a must!  Some students are moving along fast; others need help with practice.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Love,
